Nashik : In order to make the city clean and tidy, Additional Commissioner Karuna Dahle has decided to use the concept of ‘Black Spot’ used for garbage disposal. Dahle said that in the first phase, the dark spots of encroachment would be fixed by the departmental officers, after which they would be dealt with strictly.
The removal of encroachment was banned in the city area during the Corona period. After the first wave of Corona in March 2020, there was a ban on removal of encroachments till about September 2021, after which the action was slowed down after the Diwali festival. Corona has lost many jobs and as such small and big businesses have started selling food, vegetables and stalls in the city where many can be found. Even though the struggle of the concerned is right in terms of employment, but it is tarnishing the beautification of the city. Along with this, due to increasing encroachment, the problem of jam on roads and intersections is also increasing.

Keeping this in mind, the Encroachment Department is now coordinating with various tax departments to find out what are the black spots of encroachment, for this the help of departmental officers will be taken and everyone will be allowed to find unauthorized hawkers wherever they are in their respective areas. As per the policy, doing business outside the area will have to be reported to the national hawkers, after that the concerned will be diverted to an alternate place for business and action will be taken against those doing business illegally despite repeated instructions. .
A look at the Encroachment Eradication Squad
The same vendors are seen setting up their stalls everyday when business is not allowed on the roads at CBS and other intersections. If these traders are subjected to daily penalty and confiscation of their contents, it is not possible for them to do business, therefore, it is suspected that either there is no continuity in the proceedings or again after confiscation of the contents of the concerned is exchanged. Dahale said that in this background, now the encroachment squad will be closely monitored and surprise visits will be done to find out whether the personnel are taking action or not.
Only 132 zones marked for business
The process of implementing the National Hawkers Policy began in 2016, on the basis of which each road where business was to be carried out, the work to be done in rotation mode or time rotation, and the place where occupation was prohibited, the areas were determined by surveying . Based on this peddlers were allowed to trade in 225 areas. However, out of these 225 zones, only 132 zones have been identified for business so far. The intermediate corona had disrupted all the processes. Now a meeting of various tax departments and encroachment departments will be convened for the initiative to implement the hawkers policy.
National Hawker’s Policy needs to be implemented and if this happens, road crossings will be reduced, hence coordination will be established between various tax departments as well as encroachment departments. Also, action will be taken after ascertaining which areas have black spots of encroachment. Karuna Dahale, Additional Commissioner, Nashik Municipal Corporation
