Pune: The Pune City Police on Saturday arrested a Mumbai teenager for allegedly harassing a Pune-based minor girl on Instagram. Police said that accused Yash Bhandare (19) contacted the minor on social media. During the conversation with the girl, he allegedly managed to get private photos of her. He allegedly threatened the girl that he would circulate her pictures on a fake Instagram account.
In this case, the mother of the minor girl has lodged an FIR in the cyber police station. The police have registered a case against the accused under sections 354(d), 506 and 34 of the Indian Penal Code as well as the Prevention of Children from Sexual Offenses Act (POCSO) and the Information Technology Act. Technical analysis of the social media account used by the accused revealed his location in Mumbai. A police team of Pune Police went to Mumbai and arrested Bhandare, who hails from Chembur. He was produced in a special court in Pune, which sent him to police custody till January 13.
