Mumbai: Former media baron Indrani Mukerjea on Monday submitted a hand-written application in a special court claiming that her daughter Sheena Bora is alive. Mukherjee, in an eight-page application submitted through his lawyer Sana Rais Khan, urged the court to direct the CBI, the prosecution, to file an affidavit in response to its claims.
Mukherjee sought to know whether the Central Bureau of Investigation has taken any steps to unearth Sheena Bora’s claim that she is alive. According to the application, in November 2021, a woman introduced herself as former police inspector Asha Korke inside the Byculla Women’s Jail who was arrested in an extortion case involving former Mumbai Police Commissioner Parambir Singh.

The application said that Korke allegedly told Mukherjee that in June 2021 she was in Srinagar where he met a young woman who looked like Sheena Bora. When Korke approached the young woman and asked if she was Sheena Bora, the young woman replied in the affirmative.
It further claims that Korke then asked Sheena to come forward and reveal the truth so that her parents could be freed. Her application claimed that Sheena refused saying that she had started a new life and did not want to return to her old life.
