Threat of scam on over-purchasing
This year, paddy crop has been sown in Kharif in a total area of 26069.40 hectares of Tehsil. However, for the procurement of sown crops, instructions have been given to the basic centers of the government to purchase 31.35 quintals of paddy per hectare. Whereas the Tehsil Agriculture Department has estimated the production of only 27.54 quintals per hectare in the outbreak of various pest diseases on the basis of harvesting experiments.
Due to which only 8.17 quintals or less quantity of paddy is expected to be procured under the procurement centers in Kharif this year as per the government instructions and the productivity report of the Agriculture Department. But if there is an increase in the expected number of purchases during this purchase, the possibility of a scam in the purchase of paddy can be raised.
