Thane (Maharashtra): After 55 new cases of coronavirus infection were reported in Thane district of Maharashtra, the total number of infected people increased to 5,70,675. Due to the death of two more patients in the district, the death toll has increased to 11,595.
An official said on Wednesday that these new cases came to light on Tuesday. The COVID-19 mortality rate in Thane is 2.03 percent. Another official said that a total of 1,38,841 cases of infection have been reported in neighboring Palghar district and the death toll is 3,303.

On Tuesday, the total number of cases of coronavirus infection reached 3,47,03,644 with the lowest number of 5,784 new cases reported in 571 days of COVID-19 in India. The number of patients came down to 88,993 which is the lowest in 563 days. According to the updated data released by the Union Health Ministry at 8 am on Tuesday, the death toll has increased to 4,75,888 due to the loss of 252 more lives due to this epidemic. The number of new cases of infection has remained less than 15,000 for 47 consecutive days.
The ministry said that the number of patients under treatment for COVID-19 in the country has come down to 88,993 which is 0.26 percent of the total cases of infection and is the lowest since March 2020 while the national rate of people recovering from COVID-19 is 98.37. The percentage was recorded which is the highest since March 2020. In the last 24 hours, there has been a decrease in the number of patients under treatment for COVID-19 by 2,463 cases.
