Chandrapur, 252 employees of Chandrapur depot, who have been agitating since October 28 to demand merger with the state government, have sought permission for euthanasia from Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray. A request has been sent to the CM and His Excellency the Governor through the Collector.
In this request, it is said that the mental condition of the employees working in the State Transport Corporation is not good at present, they are working under constant stress. The financial condition of ST employees is very pathetic as compared to other government employees. Some ST employees have committed suicide due to low wages and mental harassment from the State Transport Corporation.
Thoughts of suicide are also coming in the minds of other employees. But committing suicide is a crime by law, so you cannot do it. Despite repeated requests, proper response is not being received, so all the employees are asking for permission for euthanasia.
The Maharashtra State Chief has, therefore, requested to merge the ST Mandal with the State Government and give life-giving by giving a post-gradient salary category on the basis of preference like state government employees, giving relief from economic and mental troubles, otherwise granting permission for euthanasia. Because today due to the continuous agitation for 60 days, the mental condition of the employees is continuously deteriorating.
Only 40 ST workers gave promotion exam
On Sunday 26 December, between 11 am to 2 pm, there was an examination for the promotion of 128 employees of Chandrapur Depot in Vidya Vihar Convent High School and Junior College, local Chhatrapati Nagar Tukum. But due to their involvement in the employee movement, only 40 employees have given the promotion exam. Rest of the employees have not given the exam.
According to the employees, 58 of their colleagues have lost their lives, so they are mourning. In such a situation the mental condition is not good. Therefore, demand has been made from the departmental controller to take the pre-examination guidance and promotion examination only after the start of ST transport.
