Nashik : 15,000 employees of 200 industries of Nashik (West) district protested against the central government’s policy of non-implementation of laws made against inflation, unemployment, privatization and contracts in the state. The employees demonstrated. A large number of CITU related factories as well as construction workers, domestic workers and unorganized workers in Nashik district participated in the two-day strike by the Joint Action Committee of trade unions in the country. Under the leadership of CITU, more than 15,000 workers from over a dozen industries joined the strike. In Satpur, Naveen Nashik, Nashik Road, Sinnar, Igatpuri, Malegaon, Dindori, Niphad, the working class protested and opposed the policies of the government.
The workers’ meeting held at CITU Bhawan urged the central government to repeal four anti-labour labor codes, curb inflation and unemployment, withdraw the policy of contract privatization, privatize public enterprises and stop sales, retain contract workers, minimum There was open opposition to the policies of the central government on issues such as payment of salary, allowance at the rate of Rs 26,000 per month to the unemployed, Rs 9,000 pension to senior citizens, free education and health and taxing the rich.
