- Many doubts in preliminary investigation, case not registered late night

The Railway Protection Force and the Lohmarg Police came to the fore after a complaint of theft of a large quantity of 1.65 kg gold ornaments carried by a Mumbai-Raipur passenger on Friday morning. The total value of this goods is being told more than Rs 6 crore. Till late night, action was taken to register the case by the GRP. On the other hand, the suspicious activity of the complainant passenger in the CCTV recording investigation disturbed the RPF and GRP.
First told 1.65 kg, then reached 6 kg
According to the information received, a train passenger going from Howrah-Mumbai Mail Express to Raipur reached Railway Protection Force post at around 10 am on Friday. He told that he had a total of 2.50 kg of gold ornaments. In this, jewelry worth about 1.65 kg was stolen by someone around Sevagram. He works with a goldsmith resident of Raipur and brought jewelry from Mumbai.
It is noteworthy that according to the rules, any railway passenger can travel only with a maximum of 2.50 kg of gold or gold ornaments. If the quantity exceeds this, a case can be registered against the passenger under various Acts and Sections. On the other hand, the news of the theft of such a large amount of gold created a ruckus in the RPF and GRP. In a hurry, GRP Nagpur Superintendent of Police M. Rajkumar, Additional Superintendent of Police Vaishali Shinde, PI Manisha Kashid and other officers reached the police station. During interrogation by the officials, the said passenger told that a total of 6 kg of gold went to him.

Seeing the seriousness of the matter, RPF and GRP started checking the CCTV recordings. Security personnel posted in the CCTV unit of RPF saw the recordings of various cameras. According to sources, the said railway passenger got down from the train and was seen going towards platform 8 towards the eastern part of the station. The said passenger left the station where a two-wheeler driver was waiting for him.
Jaukt railway passenger gave him a bag kept with him and came back to the station premises. According to the information, the person with two wheeler is the brother-in-law of the rail traveller. He went straight to the RPF police station from here. This activity of the railway passenger raised the ears of the officials. Immediately the original owner of the jewelry in Raipur was contacted and called to Nagpur. However, he did not reach till late in the night. In such a situation, some other officers including PI Kashid were also scolded in the police station till late night.
