Share Market News , | BSE Sensex, Nifty50: On the occasion of Muharram today, on August 19, there will be no trading in the Sensex and Nifty. Business in the commodity and forex markets will also remain closed today. Now trading will start in the domestic stock market tomorrow i.e. on Friday, August 20. Trading will also remain closed in the commodity derivatives segment, but trading will start after 5 pm in Multi Commodity Exchange (MCX) and National Commodity and Derivatives Exchange (NCDEX). In the commodity segment, trading is done in the evening session from 5 pm to 11:30/11:55 pm, while in the morning session, trading is done from 9 am to 5 pm.

Market closed after slipping from record high on one trading day
The market had reached a record high on 18 August amid mixed trends globally. Sensex had crossed the level of 56 thousand in intra-day trading. However, on the day of weekly expiry, Sensex and Nifty closed from record highs. A trading day ago, the Sensex closed 162.78 points down at 55,629.49 and the Nifty slipped 45.75 points to 16,568.85. 9 stocks on Sensex and 20 stocks on Nifty50 closed with gains.
Market cap of companies listed on Sensex at record level
During the trading on Wednesday, the Sensex had reached a new peak of 56 thousand for the first time. With this, the total market capitalization of companies listed in the Sensex had crossed Rs 242 crore. The 30-share BSE Sensex rose 312.44 points to 56,104.71 during early trading, due to which the market cap of listed companies reached a record level of Rs 2,42,,08,041.64 crore. The Sensex had registered gains for the fifth consecutive trading session, although the Sensex slipped from this high till the close of trading.
