PM Kaushal Vikaas Yojana: The Prime Minister has launched the Kosala Vikas Yojana for the youth of the country, which aims to promote skill development in the country and provide industry-related skills training to a large number of Indian youth. What is PMKVY?
There is a shortage of skilled people in many sectors of the country’s economy. Due to poor quality of the workforce in India, there is very less productive capacity. There is also a lack of employment in the country. Along with this, a large section of the youth of the country is also looking for a job and keeping this in mind, this scheme has been kept. Skill development has become a major priority area for the country.
This will not only help for economic development, but will also help in fulfilling youth aspirations for good and better paying jobs and self-employment opportunities. The government wants India to become the skill capital of the world. The objective of this scheme is to enable large number of Indian youth through free skills training so that they can get employment and live their livelihood in a good way.
Youth will get training under Pradhan Mantri Kaushal Vikas Yojana
Under this PM Kaushal Vikaas Yojana, the training center will be imparted skill training to the youth in collaboration with Public Training Partners. Skill training in training centers is divided into two parts, theoretical study of the candidates is done in the class room and practical knowledge is imparted in the lab for the candidates. The marks of theory and practical depend on the job role or job role of the candidate. This training is provided under the National Skill Qualification Framework (NSQF). It is an industry standard set by the National Skill Development Agency (NSDA).
You will get employment opportunities
After completion of training, all the candidates are required to sit in the assessment to get the certificate. 70% of the candidate has to be present to sit in the evaluation. The assessment is not done by a training center but from an Assessment Agency accredited by the Sector Skills Council.
Candidates who pass the evaluation will be awarded a certificate with ₹ 500 prize money. In this scheme, along with skill training at the time of training, knowledge of communication skills, business skills, finance, digital courses etc. is also given.
Beneficiaries of the scheme
This applies to all citizens of PM Kaushal Vikaas Yojana who are unemployed or who have dropped out of school / college, are between 15 and 45 years of age. For this, you will need Aadhar card and bank account holder, PAN or voter ID card. College students will not be allowed under PMKVY as the scheme focuses on school / college dropouts. Further, in case of corporate or factory premises, the candidates cannot become their own employees or daily laborers.
Under this Pradhan Mantri Kaushal Vikaas Yojana, such candidates will be benefited who have not completed their school / college education. Also who is unemployed. According to the National Skills Qualifications Framework (NSQF), training centers will also impart training in small skills, entrepreneurship, financial and digital literacy.

The duration of training varies between 150 and 300 hours, depending on the job role. Training partners provide help in obtaining employment after completion of training and assessment. The entire training and evaluation fee under PMKVY is paid by the government.
Those who have acquired skills by themselves or working in the industry will be evaluated and will be certified under PMKVY. This means that prior experience will be recognized. RPL aims to align the country’s unorganized competent workforce under NSQF.
