Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Sunday started the distribution of property cards for the SVAMITVA scheme. On pressing a button of PM Modi, an SMS was sent to about one lakh property owners across the country. A link is included in that message, by clicking on which he can download his property card. After this, the state governments will distribute the physical i.e. physical property card to the people.
The Central Government Proprietary Plan was launched on National Panchayati Day (24 April), 2020. The scheme is to ensure their owners with ownership documents on the houses present in rural areas. Under the SVAMITVA scheme, the land in the rural areas will be demarcated through drone survey technology and a record of ownership of the owners of the houses in the rural areas will be maintained. The Ministry of Panchayati Raj is the nodal ministry to implement this scheme. The revenue/land records department is the nodal department for the scheme in the states. The Survey of India is the nodal agency for a survey of property through drones.
PM Modi congratulated the 1 lakh people who downloaded, received the ownership letter or property card of the houses. He said that today you have a right, a legal document that your house is yours, it will be yours. This scheme is going to bring historical changes in the villages of our country. Today, the country has taken another big step in self-reliant India campaign. The SVAMITVA scheme is going to help a lot in making our brothers and sisters living in the village self-reliant.
The Prime Minister said that I am confident that the SVAMITVA scheme will also become a great medium to end many disputes in our villages. Due to the record of property, loans are easily available from the bank, employment-self-employment routes are made. When there is a record of property, when the property is acquired, then the confidence of the citizens increases, as well as new avenues are opened for investment.
PM Modi further said that big experts from all over the world have been insisting that the ownership of land and house has a big role in the development of the country. One-third of the population in the world has a record of own property legally, two-thirds of the people in the world do not have it. In such a situation, it is very important for a developing country like India that people have an accurate record of their wealth.
He said that there are so many youth of the village who want to do something on their own. But despite being home, he had to face many problems in getting loan from bank in the name of his house. By showing the property card made under the SVAMITVA scheme, it was very easy to get loans from banks. Efforts going on to strengthen our Panchayati Raj system for the last 6 years will also strengthen the SVAMITVA scheme.
