PM Kusum Yojana: There have been reports of fraud in the name of the Central Government’s Prime Minister Kisan Energy Security and Upliftment Mahabhiyan (Prime Minister-Kusum) scheme. Some people are taking the wrong advantage of this scheme and are raising money wrongly from the needy. In fact, some fraudsters have created fake websites in the name of the scheme and claimed to be the registration portal for the PM-Kusum scheme. After the introduction of such website, Ministry of New and Renewable Energy (MNRE) has cautioned the common people.
What is Pradhan Mantri Kusum Yojana?
The Prime Minister Kisan Energy Security and Upliftment Mahabhiyan (Prime Minister-Kusum) scheme has been started by the Ministry of New and Renewable Energy (MNRE) in 2020 itself. Through this central government scheme, farmers can irrigate their fields by installing solar pumps and pumps on their land. The goal of the Central Government is that under this scheme, all the electric and diesel-powered pumps can be run with solar energy.

Government gives grant up to 60 percent
Under this, up to 60 per cent grant is given by the government for the beautification of agricultural pumps. This scheme is being implemented by the departments of the state government, in which farmers have to submit only 40 percent of the rest to the department. Details of these departments are available on MNRE website www.mnre.gov.in.
Fake website
After the launch of the scheme, it was seen that some websites claimed to be the registration portal for the PM-Kusum scheme. Such websites are deceiving the general public and collecting money and information from them through fake registration portals. In order to avoid any harm to the general public, MNRE first submitted the information on 18.03.2019, then on 03.06.2020 and again on 10.07.2020 to the beneficiaries and general public on any such websites, not submitting the registration fee and sharing their information. Was advised to be cautious.
What to do needy what not
MNRE states that it does not register beneficiaries under the scheme through any of its websites and therefore any website claiming to be MNRE’s registration website for the scheme is misleading and fraudulent. Any suspected fraudulent website, if viewed by anyone, inform MNRE immediately.

MNRE says that action is taken against them after getting information about such website. Recently it has been observed that some new websites (www.pmkusumyojana.co.in and www.punjabsolarpumps.com) have illegally claimed the registration portal for PM-Kusum scheme. Therefore, all potential beneficiaries and the general public are advised to avoid depositing money or information on these websites. Apart from this, newspapers have also been advised to check the authenticity of websites claiming to be registration portals for government schemes before publishing on digital or print platforms.
