LTC Cash Voucher Scheme: There is a lot of good news for the central employees. Under the LTC Special Cash Package Scheme for central personnel, the last date for claiming or depositing the bill has been extended. Central employees will now be able to deposit the bill / claim under the LTC Special Package by the end of this month i.e. 30 April. However, you will be able to take advantage of this only when the purchase for the claim has been completed by the last of the previous month i.e. March 31, 2021.
In the Office Memorandum of 31 March 2021, the Department of Expenditure has said that this decision has been taken on 31 March 2021, in view of the practical problem in submitting the claim / bill for the purchase at the last minute. For example, if someone made a late night purchase on March 31, it was very difficult for him to submit the claim / bill on the same day, even if it was online shopping. However, it has also been clarified that the deadline will not be extended after April 30.
Scheme was introduced last year
Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman introduced the special LTC cash scheme in October 2020 last year. Under this, the cash boucher was announced to the employees in lieu of LTA. To take advantage of this, the Central Government had set some guidelines. The plan had to spend three times more on rent on goods and services. The same amount was to be spent for the leave encashment ie leave encashment claim. This expenditure was to be made by the employee before 31 March 2021 i.e. in this financial year.
GST invoice for claim
Provision was made to spend 12 per cent or more on the goods or services of the tax slab to the employees availing this scheme. Provision was made to collect and pay goods from the GST vendor itself. Apart from this, the central personnel had to make payment in digital mode. Those who have not yet submitted the claim / bill under the scheme, will have to give GST invoice to claim it.
