On Monday, a six-hour rail roko agitation by farmers affected 130 locations in the Northern Railway zone and disrupted the operation of 50 trains. Chief Public Relations Officer (CPRO) gave this information. The movement was called by the United Farmers’ Front (SKM) of farmers unions leading the movement against the three agricultural laws of the Center over the Lakhimpur violence.
Meanwhile, rail traffic remained affected in parts of Rajasthan and Haryana in North Western Railway. Two trains were cancelled, while 13 were partially canceled and one diverted.
Trains affected in Northern Railway
The trains that have been affected in the Northern Railway include the Chandigarh-Firozpur Express. Officials said its scheduled departure from Ludhiana was at 7 am, but got stuck due to the blockade on the Firozpur-Ludhiana section.
The New Delhi-Amritsar Shatabdi Express was stopped near Shambhu station as protesters blocked railway tracks near Sahnewal and Rajpura. Northern Railway CPRO said, “So far 130 locations have been affected in the Northern Railway zone and the operation of 50 trains has been disrupted.”
Trains affected in North Western Railway zone
An NWR spokesperson said Bhiwani-Rewari, Sirsa-Rewari, Loharu-Hisar, Suratgarh-Bathinda, Sirsa-Bathinda, Hanumangarh-Bathinda, Rohtak-Bhiwani, Rewari-Sadulpur, Hisar-Bathinda, Hanumangarh-Sadulpur and Sri Ganganagar-Rewari sections But rail traffic was affected due to the agitation.
Bathinda-Rewari special train and Sirsa-Ludhiana special train will remain canceled on Monday. Meanwhile, the route of Ahmedabad-Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Katra Special train has also been changed.
The official said that the train that left Ahmedabad on Saturday will run between Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Katra via Rewari-Delhi-Pathankot on the changed route.
The United Kisan Morcha said that it will intensify the protest till justice is not done in the Lakhimpur Kheri case. The SKM had said, “All train traffic will be stopped from 10 am to 4 pm on Monday during the “Rail Roko” protest demanding the sacking and arrest of Union Minister Ajay Mishra in the Lakhimpur Kheri case.
