Ambernath: The Maharashtra Life Authority (MJP), which supplies water to the city, has asked consumers to recover around Rs 133 crore dues of water bills in Ambernath and Badlapur. Abhay Scheme has been announced.
The applications for the scheme have to be submitted within the next month to the authority’s office. Customers who pay their bills in the first three months will get 100% discount on late fees. Jeevan Authority has announced that those who pay their bills in the second quarter will get a discount of 90 percent, those who pay their bills in the third quarter will get 80 percent and those who pay their bills in the fourth quarter will get a discount of 70 percent. The arrears of the Maharashtra Jeevan Pradhikaran (MJP), which implements water supply schemes in various municipalities and municipalities across the state, have increased significantly. Therefore, there was a stir at the senior level by the Life Authority to incentivize the defaulters to recover these arrears. Also, in view of the financial difficulties of consumers who turned their backs on paying water bills during the crisis of Corona, the consumers as well as public representatives had demanded the implementation of the Abhay scheme, which waives the late fee of the total bill.
Ambernath and Badlapur cities are included
Ambernath MLA Dr. Balaji Kinikar had also given a request in this regard to Water Supply Minister Gulabrao Patil. Under that Maharashtra Jeevan Authority has announced Abhay scheme for recovery of outstanding water bills in Municipalities, Municipalities and Rural water supply schemes across the state. It also includes the cities of Ambernath and Badlapur. Maharashtra Life Authority is responsible for water management in both these cities. There are about 80 thousand customers in these two cities and they have arrears of Rs 133 crore, 85 lakh 6 thousand along with late fee. This includes principal amount of Rs 81 crore 74 lakh 73 thousand and late fee of Rs 51 crore 10 lakh 43 thousand.
Such is the Abhay scheme
To participate in this scheme of Maharashtra Life Authority, customers can submit an application to participate in the Abhay scheme in the office of Life Authority by 21 February 2022. This will include the outstanding bills up to December 2021. You will get 100% late fee waiver if you make a lump sum payment in the first three months after joining the plan. If the principal is paid in lump sum in the second quarter, the late fee will be reduced by up to 90 per cent. If the bill is paid in the third quarter, the late fee will be 80 per cent and if the bill is paid in the subsequent fourth quarter. So the late fee will be 70 percent.
