FASTag: The National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) informed on 25 December that the toll collection reached a record level a day earlier through FASTag. Toll collection of more than 80 crores was done through Fastag on 24 December. Now more than 50 lakh transactions are being done everyday. So far 2.20 crore Fastag issues have been carried out, though their number will increase within a few days as Union Road Transport and Highways Minister Nitin Gadkari has made it clear that fastag will be mandatory in all four wheelers from 1 January 2021. Taking Fastag has also become necessary because now next year from April 1, 2021, even without it third party insurance will not be possible. Now only a few days are left to come on January 1, in such a situation, it is important to get it made as soon as possible to avoid any problems.
Fastag is an initiative of the Ministry of Road Transport and Highways and NHAI. It is an electronic toll collection technique. One is a radio frequency identification tag, which is mounted on the front mirror of the vehicles. After passing through the toll plaza, the sensor installed there reads it and when the fasted car passes through the toll plaza, the toll tax is automatically deducted from the prepaid or savings account associated with the fastag.
