New Delhi: Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman reached Parliament House on Tuesday with a tablet wrapped in a red cloth to present the budget for the financial year 2022-23. Sitharaman posed with a ‘briefcase’ in a traditional style outside her office of the Finance Ministry. However, this is not a normal briefcase but a tablet wrapped in a red cloth. He read out his budget speech in digital style last year as well.
The national emblem Ashoka Pillar was also inscribed in golden color on this red cloth, which contained the digital format budget. Earlier, the Finance Minister used to carry the budget in a red colored briefcase to the Parliament House. But since becoming the Finance Minister in the year 2019, Sitharaman started presenting the budget wrapped in red cloth in the form of a ledger in accordance with Indian tradition instead of a briefcase.
