The BSE Midcap index has given a return of around 35 per cent and the BSE Smallcap index has given a return of around 40 per cent. Since the budget, there has been a rally in the market for most of the months. However, since November 2021, some selling has come in the market. But global sentiments have been more responsible for this.
Sometimes after the budget, there was a boom in the market
In the year 2021, since the presentation of the budget on February 1, the Sensex strengthened more than 2.5 percent in one month. In the year 2019, the Sensex has gained 4.6 percent in one month after the budget. After the budget in the year 2017, there was a rally in the market and the Sensex strengthened by 3 percent in 1 month. After the budget in 2016, the Sensex strengthened by 6.5 percent in one month. In the year 2014, after the budget, the Sensex strengthened by about 6.69 percent in one month. In the year 2011 too, there was a rally in the post budget market. Sensex strengthened 6.28 percent in 1 month. In 2010, the Sensex rose 7.40 percent in one month post budget.
Sometimes the market broke after the budget
After the budget in the year 2020, the Sensex has fallen by about 3.5 percent in one month. During this, it broke from the level of 39736 and came close to 38300. In the year 2018, the Sensex recorded a fall of 5.18 percent in a month after the budget. After the budget in 2015, there was pressure in the market. The Sensex fell 4.7 percent in the next 1 month. After the budget in 2013, the Sensex closed 0.14 percent weaker in the next 1 month. After the budget in 2012, the Sensex fell 1.80 percent in a month.
