Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman is presenting the country’s general budget 2021-2022 (Union Budget 2021-2022). During this period an allocation of Rs 1.41 lakh crore has been made for the Swachh Bharat 2.0 Scheme for five years. The Finance Minister on Monday announced the second phase of the Swachh Bharat Mission. The Finance Minister has announced an allocation of Rs 1.41 lakh crore for the Urban Clean India Mission under the Swachh Bharat Mission.
This will help in promoting Swachh Bharat Abhiyan in the country. The Finance Minister announced that a total financial allocation of Rs 1,41,678 crore is being made to Urban Clean India Mission 2.0 over a period of 5 years from 2021-2026. According to data provided by the Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs, so far five editions of the Swachh Survekshan have been conducted. The first version of the survey which was piloted in 73 cities (with a million plus population) in 2016, has grown by leaps and bounds, with 4,242 cities participating in the Swachh Survekshan 2020, the fifth edition of the survey.

Traditionally, copies of the budget are brought to the Parliament premises before the Finance Minister arrives, but this year, no documents have been printed due to the COVID-19 protocol. Instead, copies of the budget will be given electronically. Budget documents will be uploaded on the government website and a special app has also been created for this. Sitharaman, wearing an off-white and red colored silk sari, continued his tradition of carrying the budget speech as a bookkeeper. For this, he used a red colored purse bookkeeping.
