Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman on Monday presented the budget for the year 2021-22 in Parliament in which the allocation to the Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports was increased from 1800.15 to Rs 2596.14 crore. The budget allocation for the year 2020-21 was Rs 2826.92 crore, which was later revised to Rs 1800.15 crore in the revised budget estimate.
Increase in SAI allocation
890.42 crore has been allocated for Khelo India in the budget of 2020-21. In the revised estimate it has been reduced to 328.77. It has been increased to Rs 657.71 crore in the year 2021-22. At the same time, the allocation for National Sports Federations was 245 crores in the last budget. It has been increased to Rs 132 crore in the revised allocation budget estimate. For the next financial year, it has been increased to Rs 280 crore. Rs 25 crore has been provided for the National Sports Development Fund, while the revised allocation in the budget for 2020-2021 is Rs 7.23 crore.
The allocation to Sports Authority of India (SAI) has also been increased. 660.41 crore has been allocated to SAI while the allocation was Rs 500 crore in the budget estimate of 2020-21 which is Rs 612.21 crore in the revised estimate.
