Aurangabad: The budget was presented by the Aurangabad Municipal Administration for the new financial year 2022-23. Municipal Commissioner and Administrator Astik Kumar Pandey presented a budget of Rs 1,728 crore 15 lakh 80 thousand. In this, keeping in view the estimated expenditure of 1,726 crore 39 lakh 71 thousand, a budget of Rs 1 crore 76 lakh 9 thousand was presented. A budget of more than 550 crores was presented for the new financial year as compared to the previous year. In this, apart from the construction of roads worth Rs 200 crore in the city, a provision has been made to spend Rs 1 crore on development work in each ward on the information of the then corporator of the ward. Due to which works of Rs 115 crore will be done in 115 wards of the city on the information of former corporators. In particular, roads worth Rs 317 crore will be constructed in the city through Smart City.
Municipal Commissioner Astik Kumar Pandey told reporters after presenting the budget that an effort was made to give priority to all the works required for the city in the budget. Giving detailed information about the revenue generated by the Municipal Corporation, the commissioner said that the state government is expected to receive an amount of Rs 355 crore from goods and services tax, while the target of recovery of property tax in the new financial year is Rs 200 crore and 150 crore out of arrears in this way. A total target of Rs 350 crore has been set.

The Commissioner expressed happiness over the recovery of about Rs 170 crore from property and drinking water tax by the Municipal Administration till the last day of the last financial year and said that this year is the highest recovery since the establishment of the Municipal Corporation.
40 crores for recovery of payal supplies, 140 crores spent
The commissioner said that the maximum burden on the coffers of the municipal corporation falls on the expenditure of the drinking water supply scheme. Every year the Municipal Corporation gets only Rs 35 to 40 crore from drinking water tax. At the same time, Rs 140 crore is being spent on drinking water supply scheme. Due to the burden of more than 100 crore rupees on drinking water supply every year, many development works are getting brake. To equalize the loss of 100 crores, Municipal Administrator Astik Kumar Pandey appealed for help from the residents of Aurangabad and said that this Circumstances have to change. For that I need the cooperation of the people of Aurangabad.
The work of new drinking water scheme will be completed in due time
The Commissioner claimed that the work of 1,700 crore drinking water scheme approved for the city would be completed within the stipulated time and said that every effort is being made at the government level to complete this scheme. Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray himself, Environment Minister Aditya Thackeray, District Guardian Minister Subhash Desai are trying hard to complete the new drinking water scheme. Commissioner Pandey informed that the main pipeline work for the new drinking water scheme has started. The work of making water tanks is going on on a war footing. Aurangabad residents will get water every day after completing the work of the new drinking water scheme within the stipulated time.
Roads worth Rs 517 crore will be constructed
The Municipal Administrator said that in the last two and a half years, roads worth Rs 252 crore were constructed in the city. At the same time, roads worth Rs 317 crore will be built through Aurangabad Smart City. At the same time, a provision of Rs 200 crore has been made by the Municipal Administration for the construction of roads in the budget of the new financial year. In this way, roads worth Rs 517 crore will be constructed in the city in the next one year. Due to which 70 to 80 percent roads in the city will be improved and the residents of Aurangabad will get relief in a big way.
The knotweed law will be strictly implemented
The state government has brought in the knotweed law to legalize the illegal settlements of the city. Due to this, the residents of the city have got relief in a big way. With the help of this law, the residents of the city need to come forward in large numbers to get their illegal properties legalized. The residents of Aurangabad are still far behind in taking advantage of this law. The commissioner said that in the new financial year, this law will be strictly implemented by the municipal administration. So far 8 thousand property holders have taken advantage of this law. Due to this, an amount of 50 crores has been received in the vault of the Municipal Corporation. The administration is extending the time period every month to the residents of Aurangabad to take advantage of this law. This law will be strictly implemented from the month of May. The commissioner said that the commercial property holders of the Gandhewari complex have not yet availed the benefit of the Gondawari Act. If commercial property holders did not get their properties legalized by the month of May, Pandey warned of legal action against them.
Rs 552 crore paid for contractors and loans
The Municipal Commissioner told that about two and a half years ago, when I took over as the Municipal Commissioner, the contractors had to pay Rs 280 crore. In the last two and a half years of my tenure, more than two years were spent in making measures and plans on the corona epidemic. Despite this, the municipal administration paid Rs 250 crore to the contractors. At the same time, banks had to pay Rs 252 crore as loans. All this amount has been paid by the Municipal Corporation. This is a big achievement of the municipal administration.
Completely solved the problem of waste
Pandey said that the problem of city’s garbage is almost completely solved. Processing of waste is going on at three places in the city. 45 thousand rupees were spent every month on the vehicle of every officer of the Municipal Corporation. New 10 electronic cars have been purchased. It is costing Re 1 per kilometer. Due to which there will be a brake on the amount of lakhs of rupees spent on vehicles every year. Permission has been given to a 22-floor building in the city by the Municipal Administration. A provision of 56 crores has been made in the budget to strengthen the fire department due to the large scale construction of floors in the city. Pandey informed about the provision of 17 crores in the budget for the differently-abled and various schemes of the government. Municipal Corporation Chief Accounts Officer Wahule, Chief Officer Sanjay Pawar, City Engineer Sakharam Panjhde, Deputy Commissioner Dr. Santosh Tengle, Deputy Commissioner Aparna Thete and many other officers were present in the press conference.
