Pimpri: While the ruling BJP is facing several corruption scandals in Pimpri-Chinchwad Municipal Corporation, its office bearers have through sub-directions in the budget of 2022-2023. 885.66 crores have been misappropriated. This has once again exposed the corrupt face of BJP as it intends to do these things with its own hands and earn crores of rupees from it. Alleging this, former Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) mayor and chief spokesperson and election chief Yogesh Behl has demanded that the municipal commissioner execute the original budget without accepting the sub-directions given by the ruling party.
In this regard, Yogesh Bahl has issued a statement saying that for the financial year 2022-23, the original budget of the Municipal Corporation is Rs. After this, the Standing Committee issued sub-directions amounting to Rs.885.66 crore on February 23. It is a conspiracy to transfer money from the most useful and necessary functions for the citizens of the city to certain functions as well as to the wards of their assistant corporators.

BJP’s arbitrary rule is going on for the last five years.
Yogesh Behl said that this arbitrary rule of BJP is going on for the last five years. Till now BJP office-bearers are trying to clear the budget in few minutes without following any rules. Every rupee collected by the Municipal Corporation is collected from the people in the form of tax. The public has a right on that money. However, citizens’ money is being misused and this money is being looted by the officials. Every citizen of the city is connected with the budget, there are works related to them. While implementing the budget, it is necessary to strictly follow the rules.
BJP refrained from discussion on general assembly and budget
There is a legal provision to take suggestions and objections along with sub-directions on the budget approved by the Standing Committee. However, this process is not complete as the term of the Municipal Corporation is ending on March 13, 2022. The budget was also expected to be approved by the General Assembly for final approval under section 96(4). However, the office-bearers have refrained from holding a general meeting. According to the Municipal Corporation Act, the corporators have the right to discuss the pros and cons of the budget as well as to include the works necessary for the public interest. However, the ruling BJP has refrained from discussing the general assembly and the budget. BJP office bearers have committed the sin of attacking the rights of public representatives as now the budget will be approved by the commissioner. Along with this, the allegations of irresponsible management and corruption done till now are continuously coming to the fore. The original budget presented by the commissioner is expected to come into effect from April 1, as the ruling BJP did not convene a general meeting for fear of a post-mortem of its corrupt management.
The tenure of the current corporators ends on March 13.
Former mayor Yogesh Behl demanded that since the tenure of the existing corporators ends on March 13, the budget of the commissioner would be implemented as per 100(a) of the Maharashtra Municipal Act. According to section 95, there is a provision in the Municipal Corporation Act to implement only the original budget presented by the commissioner, so the original budget should be implemented without accepting any sub-direction presented by the BJP authorities. The corrupt face of BJP has once again come in front of the public as it has secretly tried to embezzle Rs 885.66 crore from the common man. By not accepting arbitrary bye-directions, the Municipal Commissioner should implement the original budget in the interest of the people without falling prey to any mismanagement.
