Menopause is a physical change in the female body. When the process of secretion of the ovaries from the ovaries starts to slow down and in the end menstruation period stops. When the periods are not completely complete for 12 consecutive months, then it is said that the woman has menopause. A few years before menopause, many physical and emotional changes begin in the woman.
The age of menopause is not fixed. Symptoms of premenopause gradually begin to appear after the age of 40 in Indian women. By the age of 47, women reach the stage of menopause. While some women may experience this early, that is, between the age of 42-45 years. This is called early menopause. If it occurs before 40 years, it is called premature menopause. The state of delayed menopause is also seen, when women continue to have periods until the age of 50 years. However, there are very few women, who have periods at the age of 51-52 years. Many more important things on Reliance Hospital of Navi Mumbai Dr. Bandita Sinha, Who is the Head of Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology.
Periods of Indian women mostly start at the age of 12–13 years and they reach reproductive stage soon. Based on the data of the last two decades, the onset of menstruation is mostly seen at the age of 10-11 years. This is the reason why periods between 45-48 years of age in Indian women stop. Conversely, periods in women in Western countries start at the age of 16–17 years and the reason for this is the delay in the development of the reproductive system and one of the reasons may be the cold climate of those areas. Therefore, on an average they have periods for 52 years.
Nowadays examples of premature menopause are becoming common, because the ovarian capacity of girls is decreasing i.e. the ovarian reserve is gradually decreasing. This is quite clear from the statistics of fertility treatments. In every 2-3 women out of 10, infertility is seen to some extent. It is difficult for women to conceive, as fertility is decreasing and is also the cause of early menopause. Climate change, pollution, toxins entering food and water due to fertilizers, genetic factors, all of these can also have an effect on this. This was not the case 40 years ago. Some cases have also been seen in which women got menopaused at the age of 20-30 years. Early menopause also causes stress, lifestyle, less sleep, etc., as these factors affect hormones. Due to which there is hormonal imbalance and this can also increase the symptoms of menopause. Early menopause may also be genetic.
Marriage has nothing to do with the age of menopause, it is a big myth, but the beginning of periods is related to marriage. A definite / limited number of eggs are present in chicks and if they start to have periods early, then the number of ovaries decreases. Apart from this, radiation treatment due to cancer causes menopause quickly, as it damages the eggs. Early menopause also occurs due to side effects of some medicines.
The increasing trend of removing the uterus even before the age of 40, has also increased the early menopause.
A better way to do this is to make some changes in the lifestyle of girls right from childhood / adolescence. Reduced intake of fast food, promoting outdoor activities may increase the age of onset of periods, as fatty foods, fast foods, and preservative foods have major effects on hormones. If a change in these environmental factors is made by making appropriate changes in lifestyle, then the age of onset of periods can be increased.
