Health Ministry Platform ‘e-Sanjeevani’ Now 3 lakh teleconsultations have been completed under telemedicine service. The facility of tele-consultancy is provided under this service.
The Union Health and Family Welfare Minister, Dr. Harsh Vardhan presided over a meeting organized on 9 August on completion of 1.5 lakh teleconsultations under this platform. This platform has successfully doubled the number of teleconsultations within a month since then. Out of these, 1 lakh teleconsultations have been completed in the last 20 days.
The platform completed the first 1 lakh teleconsultations on 23 July 2020 and the subsequent 1 lakh teleconsultations were completed within 26 days on 18 August.
The telemedicine service connects doctors to patients by ensuring social or physical distance. It is providing essential health care at a time when conventional medicine is considered risky due to infectious disease.
The eSynchrony platform is providing the necessary support in two types of telemedicine services, such as a doctor to doctor connect (eSeasoni) and patient to doctor connect (eSeasoniOPD). Doctor to Doctor Connect (eSanjeevani) is, in fact, an important pillar of the Ayushman Bharat Health and Wellness Center (AB-HWC) program.
It was launched in November 2019. It aims to implement teleconsultations at all 1.5 lakh health and wellness centres under the ‘Hub and Spoke’ model by December 2022. States need to identify and establish dedicated or specialized ‘hubs’ in medical colleges and district hospitals to provide tele-consultancy services in ‘Spokes’ such as SHC and PHC.
The Ministry of Health launched the second tele-consultancy service ‘eSanjeevniOPD’ on 13 April 2020, keeping in mind the COVID-19 epidemic under which the doctor telemedicine connect is made available to the patient. It has proved to be a boon in stopping the spread of COVID. Not only this, but ‘non-COVID essential health care’ is also being provided under this.
Isinjivani has so far been implemented in 23 states and other states are also in the process of launching it. Tamil Nadu alone has contributed 97,204 consultations and all these are on the eSanjeevniOPD app. Uttar Pradesh ranks second with a total of 65,173 consultations.
Himachal Pradesh has conducted most of AB-HWC teleconsultations with 30,869 dialogues. The state is at number three with a total of 31,689 teleconsultations. Similarly, Andhra Pradesh and Kerala have conducted 30,189 and 28,173 teleconsultations respectively.
Considering the use of eSunjivani by the population or people of the States / UTs, tertiary-level institutions such as Lady Hardinge Medical College and Related Hospitals, AIIMS Bathinda, AIIMS Bibinagar, AIIMS Rishikesh have also adopted ISNJIVANI.
These major institutions have provided special OPDs on eSGVNOPD and patients have started availing services through eSGVNOPD.
Under the Central Government Health Scheme (CGHS) of the Government of India, special health services have been offered to its beneficiaries in Delhi through eSGVNOPD since 26 August. Four special OPDs related to ENT, Medicine, Ophthalmology and Orthopedics have been provided on eSGV under the CGHS.
