The University Grants Commission (UGC) has launched notification tips for Twinning, Joint Degree, and Dual Degree Programmes. The tips state rules for all of the three diploma programmes and the provisions for collaborations for the taking part universities.
According to the rules, a Joint Degree Programme curriculum shall be designed collectively by the collaborating Indian and Foreign Higher Educational Institutions. On completion of the programme, the diploma shall be awarded by each the taking part instructional establishments with a single certificates.
“The collaborating Higher Educational Institutions shall make provisions for exit pathways for students who are unable to complete the Joint Degree programme with clear specification with respect to future acceptance of credits earned by the students,” the fee mentioned.
As per the rules, the Twinning Programme shall be collaboratively designed by Indian and international universities. Students enrolled with an Indian Higher Educational Institution might undertake the programme of research partly in India, following UGC rules, and partly within the international greater instructional Institution. However, in such a system, the diploma provided beneath the programmes shall be awarded by the Indian greater instructional establishment solely, UGC mentioned.
The fee has mentioned that Dual Degree Programme shall be collectively designed by each the Indian and international greater instructional establishments in the identical disciplines or topic areas and on the similar degree. “The degrees for such programmes shall be conferred by the Indian and Foreign Higher Educational Institutions, separately and simultaneously, upon completion of degree requirements of both the institutions. This shall not in any way be construed as two degree programmes in separate disciplines or subject areas and/or levels being pursued simultaneously,” UGC mentioned.
