A total of 14,196 students have applied for the subjects of newly arrived arts. This year, IIT Bombay, which is organizing the exam, has approved to apply for GATE students and Arts students present in the third year. Students who qualify through GATE can enroll in MTech and PhD courses. They can also apply for government scholarship and PSU jobs with admission to IIT, IISc and other colleges.
According to a report by Indian Express, 15-20 per cent of M.Tech vacancies in IITs every year. IITs have blamed the appointment by Public Sector Undertakings (PSUs) for this. To solve this, IIT Madras had created a common portal in 2017 under which there was a matter of appointing IITs, IISc and other central PSUs.
