The company has also indirectly employed thousands of jobs through its partner network such as trucking partner, packaging vendor, ‘I have space’ delivery partner, Amazon Flex partner, housekeeping agency and other means to cater to the demand of customers during this period. In May this year, Amazon India provided about 70,000 seasonal jobs in its operational network and customer service centers. In the last few months, Amazon announced plans to start 10 new Fulfillment Centers and expand 7 existing centers across the country this year. The company now has a storage capacity of more than 32 million cubic feet and supports more than 6.5 lakh vendors across the region. Amazon India announced the expansion of its sort center network by launching 5 new sort centers (SCs) in 19 states and expanding 8 existing sort centers. The company has expanded its distribution infrastructure by adding about 200 Amazon-owned and delivery service partner stations. It has also enhanced its delivery programs such as Amazon Flex and ‘I Have Space’, which provide thousands of other sources of income.
