The impact of the Covid-19 epidemic is slowly ending with the country’s smartphone market. It can be understood that during the third quarter (July to September), there has been an 8 percent growth in smartphone shipments. According to the Canalys report, a record 50 million (5 crore) units were shipped during this quarter. This is the all-time high record of smartphone shipments in any single quarter.
Canalys analyst, Advette Merdiker, on record shipments, said, “Smartphone selling has increased rapidly. The market is showing up after the long lockdown has been lifted in the country. Smartphone demand has increased on almost all platforms. Especially, online platforms Like Flipkart and Amazon have sold a record smartphone during the festival season. That is why the market is buzzing again. ”
Highest shipment in the last 5 years
Every year the third quarter of the year is very important for the smartphone market because during this time sales increase due to festival season. If you look at the data of the last 4 years of the smartphone shipment market, this is the first time that the all-time record of shipment has become. In the third quarter of 2017 and 2018, around 40 million (40 million) units were shipped. Whereas in the third quarter of 2019, the shipment figure reached 46 million (4.6 crores) units. However, this time a new record was made with 50 million (5 crores) units.
Chinese companies dominate
In June this year, Indian soldiers were killed by Chinese soldiers at the border, after which a boycott of Chinese products was launched in the country. Seeing the anger of the people on social media, it seemed that now the Chinese companies will indeed have to leave the country, but the smartphone shipments of the third quarter rejected these things completely.
During this period, the Chinese company Xiaomi shipped 13.1 million (1.31 crore) units and had a market share of 26.1 percent. Its annual growth was 9 percent as compared to the previous year. However, Samsung was the second largest South Korean company. Samsung shipped 10.2 million (1.02 crore) units during this period and had a market share of 20.4 percent. After this, the next three places were dominated by Chinese company Vivo, Realme and Oppo.
In 2019, Xiaomi had the highest 28% share in the Indian market. The company also had such a stake in 2018. Samsung came in second with a 21 percent share. However, the company has incurred a loss of 3 per cent over 2018. After this, Chinese companies like Vivo, Realme, Oppo dominated. Sales of these companies have increased compared to 2018.
