In order to make Uttar Pradesh the biggest hub in the field of defence, work is being done at a rapid pace in the Defense Industrial Corridor. Domestic and foreign companies working in the defense sector have taken the initiative to invest in the corridor here in the last three years. Under this, 55 big companies have requested the government to provide land in the corridor to set up their factories, out of which 19 big companies have been allotted 55 hectares of land by the Expressways Industrial Development Authority (UPEDA) in the state in the past.
These 19 companies will provide employment to thousands of people by investing Rs 1245 crore. With these investments in the Defense Corridor, the state will move rapidly towards becoming self-reliant in the field of defense product manufacturing. In fact, Prime Minister Narendra Modi had announced the creation of a Defense Corridor in UP during the Investors’ Summit in January 2018. Then it was announced that the state government is setting up defense corridors in Lucknow, Kanpur, Chitrakoot, Jhansi, Agra, and Aligarh nodes.
Companies showed interest in Aligarh and Lucknow for investment
During the Defense Expo held in Lucknow on February 2020, domestic and foreign companies associated with defense products had signed MoUs worth 50 thousand crores for investment in the corridor. Most of the MoUs have been done for the corridor being built in Andla on Khair Road in Aligarh. After this, companies have shown interest in investing in Lucknow node. According to officials, 29 companies submitted their proposals to the government for setting up the factory in Aligarh node and requested to provide land for setting up the factory. Similarly, 11 companies in Lucknow nodal, six in Jhansi node, eight companies in Kanpur node have requested to provide land for setting up factories.
Land allotted to 19 international companies
According to the state government, UPEDA, acting on the proposals received from various companies, has so far allotted 55.4 hectares of land to 19 international companies in the Aligarh node. In this, Anchor Research Lab LLP will invest the maximum amount of Rs 550 crore. The company has been allotted 10 hectares of land by UPEDA. Similarly, 10 hectares of land has also been allotted to Sadicate Innovation International, which is investing Rs 150 crore. Jai Sai Anu Overseas has been allotted 4.5 hectares of land with an investment of Rs 100 crores, four hectares of land has been allotted to Milker Defense Pvt Ltd. investing Rs. .
Apart from this, Allen & Elven, Nitya Creation India, PBM Insolation Pvt Ltd, Deep Explo Equipment Pvt Ltd, VeriWin Defense Pvt Ltd, Advance Fire and Safety, Tractrix Auto Dynamic, Crimson Energy Exports, P-2 Logitech and Cobra Industries are also expected to set up factories. The land has been made available for Soon the above companies will start the process of setting up their factories.
According to the spokesperson of the state government, the work of allotment of land in the said Aligarh node has been completed. At present, a 4-lane road is being constructed at Aligarh node at a cost of Rs.10.21 crore. Along with this, the work of building a power house, boundary wall has also started there. Soon the companies that have got the land will start the construction work of the factory there.
