Petrol-Diesel Price: The government is considering making flex-fuel engines mandatory in the automobile industry.
flex-fuel engine
For the people troubled by the rising prices of petrol and diesel, the government can take a big decision in the next 8 to 10 days. The government is considering making flex-fuel engines mandatory in the automobile industry. Union Road Transport and Highways Minister Nitin Gadkari gave this information. The Union Minister said that this step will help the farmers and boost the Indian economy.
Addressing the Rotary District Conference 2020-21 through video conference, Gadkari said that the price of alternative fuel ethanol is Rs 60-62 per liter whereas the price of petrol in many parts of the country (Petrol Price) is more than Rs 100 per liter. Therefore, Indians will save Rs 30-35 per liter by using ethanol.
Flex-fuel engine will be an option
He said, I am the transport minister, I am going to issue an order to the industry that there will not be only petrol engines, there will be flex-fuel engines, where people will have the option to use 100 percent crude oil. Union Transport Minister said, I will take a decision in 8 to 10 days and we will make it (flex-fuel engine) mandatory for the automobile industry
Flex-fuel engines being produced in these countries
He mentioned that automobile companies in Brazil, Canada and the US are producing flex-fuel engines, giving customers the option of using 100% petrol or 100% bio-ethanol. .
20 percent ethanol blending target in petrol
Explain that the government has set a target of 20 percent ethanol blending in petrol in the next two years, which will help the country reduce dependence on expensive oil imports. Earlier, the government had set a target of achieving this by 2025, which has now been made closer to 2023.
Gadkari said that at present 8.5 per cent ethanol is mixed in petrol, which was 1-1.5 per cent in 2014. He said that ethanol is a better fuel than petrol and is an import substitute, cost effective, pollution free and indigenous. This (making flex-fuel engine mandatory) is going to give a boost to the Indian economy because we are a corn surplus, we are a sugar surplus and a wheat surplus country. We do not have a place to store all these food grains.
what is ethanol
Ethanol is a type of alcohol that is mixed with petrol and used as fuel in vehicles. Ethanol is produced from sugarcane. By mixing it in petrol, carbon monoxide can be reduced by 35 percent. The common man will also benefit greatly from ethanol blending petrol. A car powered by ethanol heats up much less than petrol. Alcohol evaporates quickly in ethanol, due to which the engine does not warm up quickly.
