New Trains : Railways will soon introduce AC economy class in trains. At present, AC-3 is the entry level AC coach. Economy class coaches can have 72 berths, while the existing AC-3 has 83 berths. The fare of AC economy class can be equal to that of slipper class. The first AC-economy coaches will be fitted in trains running from other parts of the country including Duronto Express trains under Western Railway. AC-Economy Class K are ready on 27th. According to a report in the Indian Express, the railways will soon decide their fares.
New class can be named ‘3E’
The design of the AC-3 will be almost the same as that of the AC-3 coach. In this, a separate bay will be made for the extra berth. According to sources, the new AC economy class may be named ‘3E’. A decade ago, ‘AC economy’ was used as a poor chariot. But it did not prove successful as extra middle berths were installed in it to carry more and more people. Because of this, the journey in it could not prove to be comfortable. But this time in the Rail Coach Factory Kapurthala, specially designed coaches of AC economy class were prepared. The coaches have been made modular so that passengers do not face any difficulty in traveling. It also has a foldable snack table, water bottle, magazine and mobile phone storage space. Reading lights, mobile charging point and standard socket are also fitted with each berth.

Railways is yet to fix the fare of AC-Economy Class. Some officials inside the department believe that its fare should be kept like AC-3, while some people believe that its fare should be less than this. It is expected that its fare can be less than AC-3. The fare can also be equal to that of slipper class. The exercise of fixing the rent is going on since May. Hopefully it will be announced soon.
