Official sources of the Income Tax Department said that the e-filing 2.0 website is now coming in its own rhythm. It’s got better than before.
New portal of income tax is improving
There has been an improvement in the new website of the Income Tax Department. In the last few days, more than 25 lakh income tax returns have been filed on this. There were over 3.57 crore unique ‘logins’ on this. More than 7.90 lakh e-PANs have been issued on this. This information was received from the official figures of the government.
The Income Tax Department launched its new portal last month. Then there were complaints of many technical glitches in this portal. The portal was launched on June 7 by the name www.incometax.gov.in (www.incometax.gov.in). But due to technical glitch people were not able to take advantage of the facilities provided on it. Official sources of the Income Tax Department said that the e-filing 2.0 website is now coming in its own rhythm. It’s got better than before.
25 lakh income tax returns in 2 weeks
In the last two weeks, 25,82,175 Income Tax Returns (ITRs) were successfully filed through this website. Taxpayers registered a total of 4,57,55,091 logins and 3,57,47,303 unique (different identities) logins.
So many applications received for linking PAN with Aadhaar
The website received 69,45,539 successful requests for linking Permanent Account Number (PAN) with Aadhaar, while it allotted 7,90,404 e-PANs. Official sources said that things are getting better on the website. The facilities which are there are working properly one after the other. This is clear from the figures.

A senior Income Tax Department official said that we expect the website to start functioning normally soon. According to officials, 1.5 lakh ITRs are being filled every day for the last few days. This website has been created by the leading IT company Infosys.
165 crores spent
Earlier, Minister of State for Finance Pankaj Chaudhary informed in Parliament that the government has paid Rs 164.5 crore to Infosys between January 2019 and June 2021 to prepare the new website of the Income Tax Department. He said that Infosys got the contract to prepare the new website of Income Tax through open tender. The contract was issued on the Central Public Procurement Portal (CPPP).
Pankaj Chaudhary said that between January 2019 and June 2021, 164.5 crores has been paid to Infosys for this project in different parts. He said that on January 16, 2019, the Union Cabinet had approved Rs 4,241.97 crore for this project. This expenditure will be done over the next 8.5 years. This includes the cost of Managed Service Provider (MSP), GST, rent, postage and project management.
