IPL 2021 Revenue: The fourteenth season of the Indian Premium League (IPL) is about to begin. Vivo has been re-entered as the title sponsor. With this, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) is eyeing strong earnings this year. The industry estimates that BCCI could get around 4000 crores revenue through title sponsorship in the 14th season of IPL. Let us know that the 14th season of IPL is starting on April 9. Last year, due to Corona virus epidemic, the IPL had to be taken out of the country, due to which there was a decrease in the revenue.
The industry estimates that the BCCI’s revenue had decreased by 30-40 per cent in the last season of IPL. Therefore, BCCI has signed 5 sponsors so far and there is an idea to add one or two sponsors further. Vineet Karnik, business head of Entertainment, Sports and LIVE Events, GroupM, told BrandWagon Online that it is very clear that IPL demand is increasing and hence sponsorship revenue has also increased. For this, BCCI has added 2 official partners in the year 2020 and an official partner in 2021. If we consider a gap of only four to five months in both seasons, it is unbelievable.
Who will get how many
The revenue of the central pool includes the amount received from sponsorship along with on-ground activation. Talking about this year, Star India will pay Rs 3,269.5 crore to BCCI for the broadcast rights. While Vivo will get Rs 440 crore and 5 official sponsors will get Rs 220 crore. At the same time, BCCI will earn 60 crores from the umpire and strategic timeout sponsorship. Currently, IPL 14 has added Upstox, Dream 11, Unacademy, Tata Motors and CRED as the official sponsors.
Franchise teams expect earnings to increase
Along with BCCI, IPL franchise teams are also expected to grow 10-15 per cent in revenue this year. According to industry estimates, 8 franchisees earned Rs 450-500 crore as sponsorship revue last year. Of this, teams like Class A like Chennai Super Kings (CSK), Mumbai Indians (MI), Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) and Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR), co-owned by Shah Rukh Khan, cost between Rs 60-75 crore. Earned. The rest of the teams estimate that they have earned Rs 40 crore to Rs 50 crore. Chennai Super Kings CEO KC Vishwanathan said that while sponsorship revenue has not returned to pre-COVID level, we have seen a 25-30 per cent increase in Revue this year and are in better positions than last year.
