Mumbai: The economic and social upliftment of any country cannot be imagined without industrialists. In a way, the participation of industrialists in the economic development of the country is the highest. Industrialists make indigenous products (Make in India) for the people of the country. Industrialists not only contribute significantly to the economic development but also develop the society by providing a large number of jobs with the highest contribution to the revenue of the government. They are at the forefront of doing social work.
They help in creating wealth by providing investment opportunities to the investors, but in spite of all these very important contributions, the industrialists in India are not loved but scorned. Under the guise of some selfish leaders doing vote bank politics, the general public starts considering them as villains instead of heroes, while the real heroes are our industrialists, who build the nation in the true sense. From Tata, Birla, Bajaj, Ambani, Adani, Mahindra, Agarwal, Srinivasan, Munjal, Narayanmurthy, Premji, Nadar to the new generation, the industrialists are our real heroes. We should be proud of them.
Why are Indian CEOs of foreign companies proud?
It is ironic that any Indian who has settled abroad after leaving India, is made CEO of an American multinational company like Google, Pepsi, Microsoft or Twitter, then we Indians are proud of him, but those who contribute to India’s progress by staying in India. Not proud of industrialists. While the reality is that many Indians who are made CEOs of MNCs have already left the country, where is their love for India? One of the major reasons behind American companies appointing Indian-origin professionals as CEOs is that India is a huge market for them and they think that making Indian-origin CEOs will make Indian consumers more likely to like their products. reduce their opposition to unfair trade practices.

The people of the country put Bollywood artists or cricketers on their heads, considering them as their heroes. It is not that there is no contribution of film actors or cricketers, their contribution is right in its place, their success also inspires the youth. But in terms of economic development and employment of the country, no one else has as much contribution as the big industrialists of the country. They create big industries by taking economic risk and provide employment with good salary to the youth and pave the way for a happy life. That’s why the real heroes are the industrialists in the real sense. We should be more proud of them.
Victims of vote bank politics
Despite the important contribution of the country’s veteran industrialists in nation building, the common people do not take pride in them as much as they deserve. The biggest reason for this is that many political parties living in opposition spread propaganda against them for their selfish vote bank politics and try to bring them down in the eyes of the public. It is also true that when the same political party is in power, it lays the ‘red carpet’ inviting these industrialists to invest.
