The country’s first multi-model logistics park will be built in Assam. The park will have direct connectivity to rail, road, air and waterways. On Tuesday, Union Road Transport and Highways Minister Nitin Gadkari laid the foundation stone of this logistic park.
Construction will be done at a cost of 693 crores
The construction of this logistic park will cost about Rs 693 crore. Connecting air, road, rail and waterways with this park will allow people to move and transport goods. The park is being built under the ambitious ‘Bharat Mala’ project of the central government. The creation of this park in Assam will increase trade with Bangladesh, Bhutan, Nepal and Myanmar. Also, there will be a ten percent reduction in business costs.
Being built with an investment of Rs. 693.97 crore, the multi modal logistics park will become a milestone in the development of North East. The project will reduce logistic cost and bring global opportunities to the region. It is being developed under Bharatmala Pariyojana.
Local and regional trade will be encouraged in Assam
Local and regional level trade in Assam will get a boost. The logistic park will have services related to cargo, warehousing, maintenance. All weather storage will be available. Union Minister Nitin Gadkari said that this logistic park will generate 20 lakh jobs and will be a growth engine of economic progress. Gadkari credited Chief Minister Sabarnand Sonowal for starting the construction of the logistic park.
Park will be of international standard
The Union Minister said that it will be an international level park. He suggested to the Chief Minister to work towards industrial development in the surrounding districts. In this program organized through a virtual medium, Chief Minister Sabarnand Sonowal, Union Minister of State Dr. Jitendra Singh, Dr. V.K. Singh, Rameshwar Toli and all MPs and MLAs were present.
