Income Tax Refund: The IT department has issued a refund of Rs 13,694 crore in 21.32 individual cases. At the same time, refund of Rs 32,203 crore has been issued in 1,19,173 corporate cases.

The Income Tax Department has issued a refund of Rs 45,896 crore to 21.32 lakh taxpayers between April 1 and August 2 in the current financial year. The IT department has issued refunds worth Rs 13,694 crore in 21.32 individual cases. At the same time, refunds of Rs 32,203 crore have been issued in 1,19,173 corporate cases. The Central Board of Direct Taxes (CBDT) has given this information by tweeting.
Earlier on July 30, the CBDT had informed that it has issued refunds of more than Rs 43,991 crore in the current financial year till July 26. Recently, CBDT has also extended the last date for electronic filing of various forms under the Income Tax Act, 1961.

Status Check Process
1. To check the status of the refund amount sent by the Income Tax Department, one has to go to the e-filing website of the department. Log in here.
2. To login, PAN number, e-filing password and captcha have to be filled. Doing so will open the profile. Here you click on the option of View Returns and Forms ‘View returns/forms’.
3. Now click on Income Tax Return ‘Income Tax Returns’ in the menu and click on the hyperlink Acknowledgment Number. By doing this a new window will open.
4. Here you will get information about the filing timeline, processing tax return. Then you can also know about the payment refund.
Money will not come if ITR is not verified
If your ITR has not been verified in the profile, then send a request for re-verification with the help of your Aadhaar or send the signed ITR-V form by speed post to the Income Tax CPC office. Until this process is not completed, the refund amount will not be credited to your account. Taxpayers can request the department to expedite ITR processing by filing a complaint petition to the CPC or the Assessing Officer.
