The country’s largest private bank HDFC (HDFC) has issued four lakh new credit cards after the removal of the Reserve Bank’s (RBI) ban. On Wednesday, the bank said in a press conference that it has set a record of issuing more than four lakh credit cards after the moratorium was lifted.
HDFC Bank said that these new cards have been issued till September 21, 2021 and this reflects the rapid progress of the bank. Parag Rao, Group Head, Payments, Consumer Finance, Digital Banking and IT at HDFC Bank, said the bank will rapidly expand its credit card customer base and will soon try to regain its lost market.
Big achievement achieved in short time: Rao
Rao further added that the bank has achieved record high growth rates across all customer segments and is poised to transform the industry by introducing best-in-class cards across all segments. Rao said, “We want to increase the number of our cards very fast. We are very happy to announce that since the ban has been lifted, till the end of September this month, we have issued four lakh new cards in a very short period of time.” Rao further added, “My Accordingly, this is a very big achievement and I also believe that we have achieved it in a very short time.
