Haryana Deputy Chief Minister Dushyant Chautala said on Saturday that the state government has made all arrangements for procurement of rabi crops with minimum support price (MSP) at the mandi level. He said that procurement of rabi crops will begin in two phases. Chautala, who also handles the Department of Food, Civil Supplies and Consumer Affairs, said that the state government would start procuring wheat and mustard from April 1 and buying barley, gram and pulses from April 10.
He also said, “If a transporter does not pick the crop from the market in 48 hours, then he will be fined.” In an official statement on Saturday, it was said that the Deputy Chief Minister held a meeting with senior officials associated with the procurement process of Rabi crops here. Principal Secretary to the Chief Minister of Haryana, V Umashankar and Additional Chief Secretary PK Das and other senior officials were present in the meeting. During the meeting here, Chautala gave guidelines on timely harvesting, smooth running of the procurement process and ensuring that no farmer or ‘adhatiyas’ (commission agents) had any problem.
Instructions for payment of farmers within 48 hours
He stressed that farmers should not face any problem in selling their crops at any level. The Deputy Chief Minister said that the State Government will purchase wheat, mustard, barley, pulses and gram at MSP price from those farmers who have registered their crops on the portal ‘Meri Fasal Mera Byora‘. Chautala instructed the officers to pay the crop to the farmers within 48 hours. He said that appropriate arrangements have been made for timely raising of crops from the market.
If the transporters do not lift within 48 hours, then the penalty will be levied
He said, ‘Transporters have been ordered to lift within 48 hours, otherwise they should be ready to pay the fine.’ The Deputy Chief Minister said that so far 7.5 lakh farmers have registered on the portal to sell their crops. Farmers will be informed in advance on which days they can bring their crops to the market for sale.
