Good news for ESIC members
Many such people died during the Corona period who were the only earning members of their families. In order to provide relief to such ESIC members, the government is going to make a big announcement soon. Under this, a pension of at least Rs 1800 per month will be given to the dependents of ESIC members on death from COVID. For this, the Ministry of Labor has sought suggestions, for which one month’s time has been given.
The Ministry of Labor has also issued a notification regarding the grant of pension facility. In this, the departments have been asked to give suggestions. The ministry has said in the statement that under the COVID-19 Relief Scheme, relief will be given to the dependents on the death of the insured. However, its benefit will be available only if the insured person is registered on the online portal of ESIC three months before being found corona infected.
Scheme Terms
The benefit of the COVID-19 Relief Scheme will be available only if the ESIC member is in service during the transition. In addition, the contribution must have been paid for at least 70 days during the period of one year. Under the scheme, in case of death of the employee, wife, legal or adopted child up to the age of 25 years or widow mother can get financial help. According to the notification, the relief amount will be paid directly to the eligible family members of the deceased in their bank account.
90% of the daily salary will be given
Under the scheme, on the death of the insured, the family members will get 90% of the daily salary per month. Out of this, the wife will get an amount equal to 3 out of five of the total relief amount every month for life. At the same time, legitimate or adopted children will get an amount equal to 2 out of five of the total amount till they complete the age of 25 years.
Will help in funeral
On the death of the insured, financial assistance will be given to the dependents from ESIC for his funeral. 15,000 will be paid for this. The claim for benefits is made at the designated branch for the employee. The claim is settled in 7 days.
You will get salary even during treatment
Under the ESIC Act, if the insured employee is undergoing covid treatment, then he will continue to get his salary during this time as well. This salary will be given on the basis of 70% of the average daily wage. Under the Act, there is a provision to pay salary to the insured employee during treatment for a maximum of 91 days in a year. The employee has to produce a medical certificate to get the benefit.
