Qualcomm Technologies Inc. And Radices Corporation, a wholly-owned subsidiary of Jio Platforms Limited (Jio), today announced that it has expanded its efforts to develop an open and interoperable interface compliant architecture based on 5G solutions with virtualized RAN. Through this work, both the companies aim to launch the infrastructure and services of the indigenous 5G network in India and pave the way for its development.

Qualcomm Technologies and Jio have also announced that they have achieved the milestone of achieving speeds of 1 Gbps on Jio 5GNR solutions by taking advantage of the Qualcomm® 5G RAN platforms. This achievement not only endorses Jio’s 5G capabilities but also makes Jio and India’s entry into the Gigabyte 5G NR product portfolio important.

With 5G technology, users will experience unprecedented data speeds, low latency communications, as well as enhanced customer digital experience on a variety of devices, from 5G-based smartphones to enterprise laptops to AR / VR products to vertical IoT solutions.

Mathew Oommen, President, Reliance Jio Infocomm, said, “We are excited to be working with Qualcomm Technologies to develop a new generation of cloud-based 5G RAN technology that is truly open and software-defined.
