At present, Future Retail Limited has got relief in the dispute with Amazon over the deal with Reliance. The Supreme Court on Thursday said that all proceedings in the High Court to implement the decision of the Singapore Emergency Arbitrator in the deal with Reliance will be stayed for four weeks. The Singapore Emergency Arbitrator had put a stay on Future’s Rs 24,731 crore deal with Reliance. Under this deal, Future Group sold its retail business to Reliance Retail. But Amazon had complained against it in International Arbitrage, saying that Future should have taken its permission before this deal.
The single bench of the High Court had ordered for confiscation of the property.
The decision of the Singapore Emergency Arbitrator came in favor of Amazon. After this, Future Group once again went to the Supreme Court to stop this order. After hearing his petition on Thursday, a bench headed by Chief Justice NV Ramana of the Supreme Court has asked the National Company Law Tribunal (NCLT), Competition Commission of India (CCI) and market regulator SEBI for the next four weeks regarding the merger deal. No interim order has been asked to be issued. Along with this, the High Court has also stayed any proceedings in this matter.

Future Retails Limited and Future Coupons Private Limited had moved the Supreme Court against the High Court’s decision that it would implement the order of stalling the deal between Reliance and Future. The Single Bench of the High Court had ordered to stop the deal of Reliance and Future in accordance with the order of the Singapore Court. High Court The order of the Single Judge Bench was revived in which it was directed to attach Future Coupons, Future Retail, Kishor Biyani Assets. Future Coupons had sought a stay of the High Court order which had issued show cause notices to Biyani, other Future directors for civil arrest. The court had said that why should not his property be confiscated.
The Bench, after perusing the statements of senior advocates Harish Salve and Mukal Rohatgi, appearing for Future Retails Limited and Future Coupons Private Limited in this matter, said that the arbitrator has yet to finalize his case. Judgment not given. It has reserved its final decision after hearing the side of both the parties (Amazon and Future) in this case.
Senior advocate Gopal Subramaniam, appearing for American e-commerce company Amazon, said that the company is not in favor of any coercive action against Future Retail Ltd and Future Coupons Ltd and their directors. He agreed with the decision of the bench, in which all the proceedings of the High Court related to this deal have been ordered to be stayed for four weeks.
