There are still flaws in the new portal of Income Tax. People are facing difficulties in filing returns to e-processing etc.
Technical flaws persist in new income tax website
The new portal of the Income Tax Department, started with the aim of giving relief to the taxpayers, has been in the headlines since the beginning. The flaws in the website are still intact since the day of launch. In this regard, the Finance Minister himself had also reviewed two weeks ago. In which instructions were given to improve the functioning of the portal. But even after a month has passed since the launch, there is not much improvement in the portal. People are facing all kinds of technical problems.
In this regard, BDO India Partner (Tax and Regulatory Services) Amit Ganatra said that after the meeting of the Finance Minister with the Infosys team on June 22, it appeared that all pending issues would be resolved quickly. Although the site has improved since then, technology-related challenges still remain and it may take some more time for the site to be fully operational. He believes that many things like e-processing and digital signature certificate have not started working on the new income tax portal yet. Apart from this, some foreign companies are also facing problem in logging on to the portal.
He also said, “The tab related to e-processes is not fully functional. Online correction option is not available. JSON facility is not available for filing Income Tax Return in 5, 6, 7. Like the previous website, this portal does not have any tab to give comprehensive information about Vivad se Vishwas. Also there is no information about pending action tab.
Let us tell you that the Income Tax Department launched the new portal in June with great enthusiasm. There are technical problems on the portal since the beginning. Due to this, Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman had a meeting with Infosys officials on 22 June. Since Infosys has prepared this new website, a reply was sought from the chairman of the company.
Even after two weeks of this meeting and a month after the launch of the portal, the users are facing many problems. They are not able to file income tax return of previous years. Also they are not able to download the intimation notice for assessment year 2019-20 and earlier years. Regarding these discrepancies coming in the IT portal, Infosys says that things on the Income Tax matter have been presented in the recently concluded annual general meeting.
