Under the ‘Egg Freezing’ process, healthy eggs are removed from the woman’s uterus and stored in the lab. It is kept under medical supervision. Later, whenever the woman wants to become pregnant, those eggs are fertilized and transferred to the woman’s uterus by making an embryo. With this procedure, the woman does not face any problem in becoming a mother even after the age of 30 to 40. In addition to the annual storage charges on eggs harvesting, an expenditure of Rs 50000 to 1 lakh can be incurred. These companies took the initiative
Accenture MD and Lead (HR) in India Lakshmi C said in an interview that according to studies, one in 6 couples in urban India face fertility-related challenges. In such a situation, women employees in the company are given the facilities of fertility and surrogacy treatment in medical cover. At the same time, In WeWork India Company also, Infertility cover is offered to women employees in Group Medical Policy. It also includes egg harvesting treatment. For this coverage up to Rs 1 lakh per family is provided. Similarly, 53 percent of the ‘Best Companies for Women’ companies are such where support is available for infertility treatment for employees and their spouses. While 11 per cent companies offer medical cover for egg freezing.
How Egg Freezing Works
During egg freezing, younger women have to freeze fewer eggs. Whereas with increasing age, the number of eggs to be frozen also increases. Suppose if a woman is 34 years old, then she will have to freeze about 10 eggs, while a 37-year-old woman will have to freeze twice this i.e. 20 eggs to become a mother. Similarly, with increasing age, the number of storage will also increase.
