DGCI has approved the corona vaccine ZyCoV-D of domestic pharmaceutical company Zydus Cadila for emergency use on Friday. This is the world’s first DNA-based vaccine. It can be applied to children and adults aged 12 years and above. Zydus Cadila has said that so far this vaccine has been tested in more than 50 centers in India. So far, Serum Institute’s Covishield, Bharat Biotech’s Covaxin and Russia’s Sputnik-V are being used in India. Vaccines from Moderna and Johnson & Johnson have been approved, but are not yet available in India.
The company will make 24 crore doses every year
Zydus Cadila has clearly said that it will make 24 crore doses in a year. Will produce 2 crore vaccines every month. Talks are also going on with other manufacturers to increase production. The company will make about one crore doses in the first month. After this the production will be doubled from next month. DCGI has approved the Zycov-D vaccine made by Zydus Cadila on Friday. After getting the emergency use authorization for the vaccine, all three doses can be given on days 0, 28 and 56. The largest trial ever on this vaccine has taken place, in which about 28000 people participated.

World’s first plasmid DNA vaccine
ZyCoV-D is the world’s first plasmid DNA vaccine against coronavirus. It uses a portion of the genetic material extracted from the virus. The Zydus Cadila vaccine, developed in collaboration with the Department of Biotechnology, is the second domestic vaccine to receive emergency authorization in India after Bharat Biotech’s Covaxin.
