Union Cabinet Decisions: The Union Cabinet has approved the next round of spectrum auction. This decision was taken in a meeting held on Wednesday. Giving details of the decisions of the meeting, Union Minister Ravi Shankar Prasad said that the cabinet has auctioned spectrum in 700 MHz, 800 MHz, 900 MHz, 1800 MHz, 2100 MHz, 2300 MHz and 2500 MHz frequency bands with a validity period of 20 years. Is approved. The total offering is 2251.25 MHz, with a total valuation of Rs 3,92,332.70 crore.
Prasad said that notices will be issued this month to invite applications for spectrum auction. We have proposed to conduct the auction of these spectrum till March 2021.
NSD also gets green signal on telecommunications
The minister also informed that the Cabinet Committee on Security has approved the National Security Directive (NSD) on the telecommunications sector. Under this, to maintain the integrity of supply chain security, the government will declare a list of trusted sources / products, which will benefit the telecom service providers. In the press conference, Information and Broadcasting Minister Prakash Javadekar said that the Union Cabinet has also approved relief for sugarcane farmers, improvement of electricity infrastructure in North Eastern states.
Notification will be released soon
In May, the Digital Communications Commission of the telecom department approved the spectrum auction plan. Notification for the next round of auction is yet to be released by the department. In this round, airwaves worth Rs 5.22 lakh crore will be sold.
