Byju’s said in a statement that it will also invest an additional $400 million to accelerate the growth of Great Learning in the professional and higher education segment. A day earlier, Byju’s announced the acquisition of US-based digital educational platform EPIC for $500 million (about Rs 3,729.8 crore). Byju’s will invest Rs 7,459.7 crore separately in the North American market.

In the last six months, Byju’s has spent more than $ 2 billion (about 15 thousand crores) on the acquisition of educational technology companies. Byju’s founder Raveendran told The Economic Times that even after these acquisitions, the company would have $1 billion in cash available. It will be used in the expansion of the new platform. Currently, Byju’s is valued at $16.5 billion. This is the highest among domestic startups.

According to a statement issued by the company after the acquisition of Great Learning, “This acquisition brings BYJU’s total commitment of US$1 billion to the professional skilling and education segment globally, accelerating expansion beyond the Class 12 and exam preparation segments, and This marks a further impetus to the company’s growth plans.” Great Learning will continue to operate as an independent entity under the Byju Group. Great Learning will continue to be led by its founder and CEO Mohan Lakhmaraju and co-founders Hari Nair and Arjun Nair.
