Under the 7th Pay Commission, the government has increased the Dearness Allowance from 17 percent to 28 percent. Due to this there has also been an increase in DA on TA i.e. Dearness Allowance on Travel Allowance.

7th Pay Commission News: Recently, considering the demand of central employees, the government decided to increase it by 11 percent, removing the ban on Dearness Allowance for the last one and a half years. Earlier the Dearness Allowance was 17 percent which has now increased to 28 percent. It has been implemented from 1 July 2021. The increase in dearness allowance will have a direct impact on the transport allowance as well and there has been a jump in it.
The transport allowance for central employees is different for different levels on different city basis. Cities like Delhi, Ahmedabad, Bangalore, Ghaziabad, Greater Mumbai, Hyderabad, Jaipur, Patna come under the high TPTA category. Apart from this, the rest of the cities come under Other Cities. TPTA has been fixed for different levels of employees, on which transport allowance is calculated for an employee by adding dearness allowance.
Total Transport Allowance = TA + [(TA x DA% )/100]
For example, TPTA for level 1-2 in high TPTA cities is Rs 1350, for level 3-8 employees Rs 3600 and for level 9 above it is Rs 7200. At present DA was 17 per cent which was Rs 230 for level 1-2, Rs 612 for level 3-8 and Rs 1224 for level 9 above. In this way the total transport allowance was being made at Rs 1580, Rs 4212 and Rs 8424.
Now how much will you get travel allowance
If the Dearness Allowance becomes 28 percent, the total travel allowance becomes Rs 1728, Rs 4608 and Rs 9216. In this way, there has been a jump of Rs 149, Rs 396 and Rs 792 in travel allowance on a monthly basis. On annual basis, these employees will get Rs 1788, Rs 4752 and Rs 9504 more.
What is the TPTA for other cities
Similarly, TPTA for level 1-2 for other cities is Rs 900, for level 3-8 it is Rs 1800 and for level 9 and above it is Rs 3600. At present, DA on TA at the rate of 17 per cent is Rs 153, Rs 306 and Rs 612. In this way the total travel allowance was made Rs 1053, Rs 2106 and Rs 4212.
How much will the employees of other cities get travel allowance
TA on DA has increased to Rs 252, Rs 504 and Rs 1008 after the Dearness Allowance is increased to 28 per cent. The total travel allowance has increased to Rs 1152, Rs 2304 and Rs 4608. It has increased by Rs 99, Rs 198 and Rs 396 as compared to earlier. On an annual basis, level 1-2 employees will get Rs 1188, 3-8 level employees will get Rs 2376 and officers of 9 and above will get Rs 4752 more.
