5.82 crore Jan Dhan accounts in the country inactive
Many great initiatives were taken by the Modi government to provide convenience to the general public. One of these was the opening of Jan Dhan account. Under the Pradhan Mantri Jan Dhan Yojana, the government launched this scheme loudly to connect every poor person in the country with the banking system and kept on counting its benefits. But even after all the efforts of the government, about 5.82 crore Jan Dhan accounts are in inactive mode in the country. Meaning no transactions take place in these accounts.
Actually, this answer was given by the Finance Ministry during a question in Rajya Sabha. It was told by the Ministry of Finance that till July 28, 2021, about 5.82 crore Jan Dhan accounts of the country have become inactive. In which the number of accounts of women is about 2.02 crores.
what do the figures say
According to these figures of the government, one account out of every 10 Jan Dhan accounts in the country has become inactive. On the other hand, if we talk about inactive accounts of women, then it is 35 percent of the total inactive accounts. The way the government has worked on this scheme and the way it was launched with loud noise. In such a situation, the figures are disappointing. So far about 42.83 crore Jan Dhan accounts have been opened in the country. About Rs 1.43 lakh crore is deposited in these accounts. But at the same time the increasing number of inactive accounts is also a matter of concern for the government.
These benefits will not be available
In fact, according to the rules of the Reserve Bank of India, such accounts in which there is no transaction for about 2 years, it is considered inactive. This means that there are 5.82 accounts in Jan Dhan accounts in which no transaction has taken place for two years. If your Jan Dhan account has also become inactive, then you need to worry. Because the money coming under the subsidy or other scheme from the government comes in this account. In such a situation, if your Jan Dhan account has been deactivated, then you may be deprived of all government benefits.
