Chinese tech brand Realme has been growing rapidly since it was introduced as a sub-brand of Oppo in 2018. At the end of 2020, the company set a record by becoming the fastest brand to reach 50 million shipments.
Realme has made record sales for some time now
Smartphone Brad Reality announced on Thursday that the company has sold 100 million handsets globally. With this, Realme has become the fastest global brand to ship these devices in the history of smartphones. Sky Lee, CEO of Realme, said, “Thanks to the overwhelming support from our young users, we have been able to reach our goal of shipping 100 million smartphones and have gained a significant niche in the smartphone market.
Lee also said that Realme’s next target is to achieve the double 100 million target. Shipping 100 million handsets by the end of 2022 and meeting the same milestone within the 2023 calendar year. According to data from research firm International Data Corporation (IDC), Realme has been the fastest growing major smartphone brand globally with a year-on-year growth rate of 149 percent in the second quarter of 2021.
The company acquired over 22 percent stake in India in Q2 2021, according to Counterpoint. Madhav Seth, Vice President, Realme and Europe, Realme India and Europe, said, “Realme has always aimed to be the No. 1 smartphone brand with its dare-to-leap spirit. Our consumers have played an integral role in this achievement.
Not only this, Realme is also currently the fastest growing smartphone brand in China. The brand registered 175% HoH growth in its home country during the first half of 2021. In India, the band claimed the fourth position during its first quarter of 2018. Currently, in Q2 2021, realme had 14% market share in the country.
