All carmaker companies have revealed their April sales figures. Cells of most companies have been affected due to the growing epidemic of Corona, and the sales of all companies from Tata to Hyundai have fallen significantly. But while the sales of one and all companies have decreased, Honda Cars has gained a good edge in terms of domestic sales.
Honda Cars India has informed on Saturday that it has registered a 28 percent increase in its domestic sales. The company sold 9,072 unit vehicles in the month of April as compared to 7,103 units in March 2021. The company said that it has exported 970 units in April.
Rajesh Goyal, Senior Vice President and Director (Marketing & Sales), Honda Cars India, said in a statement, “The current health disaster has shaken the entire nation and nothing is more important than the health and well-being of our countrymen at this time. Of course, it has had an impact on business and delivery in the market. ”
He said that lockdown has been going on in many parts of the country for the last few weeks due to security and it may continue in May as well. Goyal said, “We are working closely with all our stakeholders and are doing everything possible to deal with this situation.”
Kia India sales down 16 percent
Vehicle maker Kia India said on Saturday that it compared sales of 19,100 unit vehicles in March this year to 16,111 unit vehicles sold to dealers during April. April sales were down 16 percent compared to March.
Due to the nationwide lockdown due to COVID-19, the company did not sell any vehicle units in April last year. Kia said that last month, it was one of the top five best-selling car brands in India. The auto maker has emerged as the fastest brand cumulatively achieving 2.5 lakh sales.
Kia said that the brand achieved this feat in only 22 months, when only three of its products were in the market. Last month, the company sold 8,086 units of its SUV Celtos, 7,724 units of compact SUV Sonnet and 301 units of the premium multipurpose vehicle, Carnival.
Maruti Suzuki India sales down 4 percent
The country’s largest carmaker Maruti Suzuki India (MSI) sold 1,67,014 units in March this year. Its April sales were down by four percent to 1,59,691 units. Last month, many of the company’s cars made a place in the list of top 10 selling cars. MSI said its domestic sales last month were 1,42,454 units, which is eight per cent lower than the sales of 1,55,417 units in March.
Hyundai sales down 8 percent
Hyundai Motor India Limited (HMIL) sold 59,203 cars in April 2021. This is eight percent less than the 64,621 units sold in March.
HMIL Director (Sales, Marketing and Services) Tarun Garg said, “In these challenging times, we stand in solidarity with the nation and are all striving to help the people affected by COVID 19… although at the moment the focus is on people’s lives.” And are focused on helping protect livelihoods. But we have also achieved good sales results in April 2021. ”
Tata Motors down 41 percent in sales
Tata Motors has reported that its total domestic sales fell 41 percent to 39,530 units in the month of April. The company sold 66,609 vehicles in the month of March this year. The company could not sell any vehicle in April last year due to nationwide ‘lockdown’.
Similarly, the company said that sales of passenger vehicles in the domestic market were 25,095 units in April, which is 15 percent less than the sales of 29,654 units in March this year.
Mahindra & Mahindra sales up 9 percent
Mahindra & Mahindra said its passenger vehicle sales in the domestic market stood at 18,285 units last month, which is nine percent higher than the sales of 16,700 units in March 2021.
Vijay Nakra, Chief Executive Officer (Automotive Division), Mahindra & Mahindra, said, “With increasing lockdown restrictions in many parts of the country, we are facing production challenges related to the supply chain. Demand remains good, but the lockdown will have some impact in the first quarter as a result of reduced customer movement and dealership activities. ”He added that at such times, the main focus of the company was the well being of all its partners and dealers Safety is on.
Toyota sold 9,622 units
Toyota Kirloskar Motor (TKM) said it sold 9,622 units to dealers last month. TKM Senior Vice President, Naveen Soni said, “Despite the challenges, we are seeing good demand due to individual movement needs and this has enabled us to wholesale 9,622 units in April 2021.
